Hospice CEUNursing CEUs

Continuing education units (CEUs) are a requirement for nurses. However, finding hospice CEUS and then taking to time to complete them can be a drag.

This can be even harder when you are seeking hospice CEUs.

Honestly, nothing makes me happier than knowing that a CEU is being offered for free at work.

If you are like me, it’s feels like a gift to sit through a presentation and walk away with a certificate for contact hours.

However, it can be difficult to find free continuing education units outside your employer. Even more difficult is finding them in your specialty niche.

For instance, as a hospice nurse, continuing education should be related to the hospice and palliative care domains.

I am a certified hospice and palliative nurse (CHPN) so I can relate to the struggle.  I can also offer some insight if you are wondering is hospice certification really worth it.

As a hospice nurse, when you decide to become certified, you will need additional CEUs to renew your certification with the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association.

If you are not certified and are wondering if it is really worth it, then you are not alone. You should make sure that you understand what the hospice certification is really about before you take the plunge.

Hospice CEUs

First, let me say that it doesn’t have to be complicated if you can find a couple of good sites that offer free CEUs for nursing. When it was time for me to renew my hospice certification, I made sure to take advantage of sites offering free CEUs.

I figured that since I had already done some leg work, that I would share it with you.

While you can get continuing education units from professional journals, it is much easier to seek them online.

One site that I highly recommend is the MJHS Institute for Innovation in Palliative Care. Not only do they offer a TON of free CEUs, they are hospice and palliative care specific.

Just a little note. You will need to create an account using a valid e-mail. It is easy and straight forward. Once you have signed up for a course, they will e-mail you the link, and you are off to the races.

You will be required to watch each lesson completely. (No fast-forward allowed.)

Each module contains a post-test that you must complete before you can print your certificate. Easy-peasy!
